The Caribbean
What’s better than a suntan in the middle of winter? With the rainy season over, the Caribbean is in its prime for January honeymoons. Bring your flip-flops, your favorite bikini, and plenty of sunscreen for endless days in the sun.
The Caribbean is a far more diverse region than you might realize.
Browse the options in my ultimate Caribbean travel guide to pick out the best spot for the newlyweds with wanderlust, whether it’s Puerto Rico, the Bimini Islands, Aruba, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Havana, or sailing the British Virgin Islands.
Spotlight on St. Barts
Experience a taste of the Cote d’Azur in this swanky paradise.
After the New Year, this French overseas territory clears out and you can luxuriate in chic European-style resorts without jetlag. Bathe in the glow of Flamands Beach, shop the boutiques of Gustavia, then dine like royals at Bonito.
ROYAL MALEWANE IN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, South Africa
South Africa
Being based in South Africa for years, I found myself forever looking forward to January. This is peak wildlife migration season and it’s prime time in one of the world’s greatest safari destinations. Cape Town is also in the midst of summer and is, in my opinion, the most beautiful city in the world!
I would personally plan to spend 2-3 nights on safari then enjoy everything South Africa has to offer! Road trips are also one of the best ways to see the country whether it’s a week along the Garden Route or a day trip around the Cape Peninsula
Zermatt, Switzerland
Swiss Alps
Craving those cozy winter vibes? Pack your sweaters and hop on over to to Zermatt, Switzerland.
Located beside Matterhorn Mountain, this winter wonderland is perfect for skiing, snowshoeing, and long nights in front of the fireplace. Want to arrive like the power couple that you are? Hop in a helicopter for one of the most jaw-dropping vie of your life.
Of course, Zermatt is just one of the countless wonders of Switzerland and the surrounding region. Allow plenty of time to experience everything on offer in Switzerland, along with plenty of time for s’mores and snuggles.

Best Honeymoon Destinations in February
Like January, you’ll have to decide if you want a tropical honeymoon with your love or if you’d prefer something cooler. If you’re looking for tropical, Maui is a fantastic option.
I personally love Morocco as a honeymoon destination, especially in February as it’s not too hot and it’s not peak season (meaning fewer crowds).
Since it’s located in the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand offers a tempting summer getway. Or delve into all the parties and festivities that Brazil has to offer!
Ohe’o Gulch, Maui, Hawaii
Maui
I’m sure you already know that Hawaii is one of the best honeymoon destinations in the world. So, let’s dig a bit deeper. Maui, in particular during February, is where all of your tropical dreams come true.
You’ll want to explore my Maui travel guide as you plan. And definitely check out some of the hidden gems in Maui to find a quiet place for two in the island paradise.
La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco
Morocco
This is another one of those places I find myself going back to time and time again. From the remote camps of the Sahara Desert to the bustling markets of Marrakech, this exotic hotspot has it all.
Want to take a deep dive and travel slowly? Explore Morocco by train to visit the countless wonders that dot the country or seek out the hidden gems in Morocco. While overnights in February will be chilly in the desert, the rest of the country experiences a refreshing break from the often intense heat.
TONGARIRO CROSSING, New Zealand
New Zealand
After traveling the world over, few places take my breath away like New Zealand does. This stunning country was made for adventure honeymoons, campervan road trips, hiking, and generally just enjoying the great outdoors.
The country is at its best in late summer so check all of the New Zealand bucket list experiences off your list without fear of getting rained out.
Jardim Botanico, Brazil
Brazil
Soak in the summer sun in February in Brazil. With Carnival in full swing, this South American gem is transformed into the party capital of the planet. Dance the night away with your spouse!
Or, don’t.
The parties of Rio are only a fraction of everything that Brazil has to offer. My Brazil travel guide will give you a glimpse into bucket list experiences and things to do. This southern gem is actually about the same size as the continental United States and every bit as diverse.
Whether you want to be in the center of the action or the heart of the jungle, you can have it all here.
